The bride’s hairstyle on her wedding day can make or break her entire bridal look and I am excited to have Christine from C.E.L. to give us her expert advice on the top trends for 2013 and how to ensure your hair looks it’s best on your big day.
Over 6 years ago, Christine began her career on the East Coast when she graduated from the world-renowned Paul Mitchell School. Bridal and special event hair styling is one of Christine’s biggest passions. She has had the honor of styling over 100 brides in her career thus far. Christine’s work was featured in “Bow Ties and Bliss” in 2012 for her bridal styling. Christine is professionally trained with the Schwarzkopf color line as well as Paul Mitchell and Redken. She is also a proud employee of “Drybar” the blow-dry bar as of one year ago. Christine loves working with people and making them feel better and more confident about themselves on a daily basis. Being part of one of the biggest days in a woman’s life is very special to Christine, which is why she settles for nothing less than perfection when it comes to bridal hair.
Christine’s top Spring trends for brides is the “old Hollywood Glam” retro waves, as seen on Megan Fox and Reese Witherspoon, when she recently rocked them at the Oscars. Most brides are requesting all down with loose waves, not the usual curls. If a bride has her heart set on having it up Christine will create a casual, loose, low chignon which is very soft and unfussy.
I asked Christine to share her advice on how to prepare your hair for your wedding day and she suggests having your hair trial 3-6 months before your wedding day. At that point she will determine exactly what the bride wants her hair to look like on her big day and she would advise on weekly or bi-weekly deep conditioning treatments, plus set up your color and cut appointments. The bride’s final cut and color appointment should be a few weeks before the wedding to ensure plenty of time for it to settle.
Another great thing about C.E.L. Hair is that Christine will provide a blowout for the rehearsal dinner, which then leaves the hair perfectly ready to style the next day. “If hair is too clean it is hard to hold a style and too dirty as well. But freshly blow dried hair from the evening before is what works best,” Christine shares.
C.E.L. Hair also styles the entire bridal party to keep everyone looking their best. Christine suggests the bridesmaids have a different look than the bride, meaning if the bride wants an updo than her girls should have their hair down and vice versa. She also recommends the bridesmaids all having similar styles to create a clean, unified look.
C.E.L~Hair is a mobile wedding hair company and they will travel on location anywhere from Laguna Beach, CA up to Santa Barbara, CA, plus they are willing to travel further if travel costs are covered. Christine works alongside some of the top make up artists in Southern California so, if make-up is needed as well she can easily bring one of her girls in.
