Last week, I filled you in on the basics of Bridal Market and today I’m sharing my favorite collections from last weekend’s NY Bridal Fashion Week. The big names in the bridal gown industry were there – Vera, Amsale and Monique, just to name a few- to show off the latest trends.
Traditional Romance seemed to be the theme of Monique Lhuillier’s latest collection. I especially enjoyed the A-Line shapes with lace detailing.
I loved the shorter hemlines in Carolina Herrera’s collection. I can just imagine a playful bride wearing one of these during a daytime, garden wedding.
I always love Marchesa on the red carpet and their Fall 2014 Bridal collection does not disappoint either. The styles were so ethereal, delicate and feminine. The illusion necklines made it a stand out for me.
Top Trends in 2014
There designers are taking traditional materials, like lace and tulle, and finding innovative ways to incorporate them into their designs. I love, love, love illusion necklines and Marchesa hit the nail on the head. It is a classy way to show respect during a conservative ceremony while still letting a little skin peek through at the reception. Another fun design element is the use of color. Vera Wang did this beautifully with a pallet of coral and orchid, which happens to be Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2014. One style that definitely isn’t going anywhere is the strapless ball gown. I mean, who can blame a girl for wanting her princess moment?! I know I can’t..
